and Harry Harry Hippo, My Doctor’s Name is Chico

Is there anyone out there who doesn’t love butter?

I didn’t ask if your boot-tay liked it, I already know the answer to that, but who in their right mind doesn’t love the taste of butter?

Because as someone who has studied cooking, and I would say extensively, for the last 20 years, butter makes an ordinary dish, well, extraordinary.

And in the case of biscuits and butter, well, they go together like birds of a feather.

Who’s with me?

And if you want to take your butter for your biscuits to a whole new level, then you will want today’s recipe in your butter war chest.

Alphabet Mom Honey Butter

Because we all have a butter war chest, right?

For years I have occasionally mixed some honey in my butter, for a little treat from time to time.

But sometimes, when you go to those restaurants that bring you biscuits and butter to nibble on before your meal, well, they inspired me to do a little better with mine.

Think about how impressed your family or out-of-town guests will be when you serve your warm biscuits with THIS honey butter.

It’s like having the Barefoot Contessa in your kitchen, but not really.

Today’s honey butter recipe is something that will make your guests feel special and your carotid arteries clog and you will have to see your doctor.

A good doctor you might want to see is Dr. Chico…like the time Harry Harry Hippo had to take his mom to the doctor.

Ya’ll do know I write children’s books, right?

I had to ask, just to make sure no one was sleeping.

I wrote Harry Harry Hippo for our beloved family doctor, Dr. Chico.

Harry Hippo

Most of us have one, right? A doctor, that is, that takes care of our children?

That comforts us when we think we are going to ruin our kids?

That hugs our kids so tight, loves them with their whole heart, every single one of them, and kisses their forehead even if they are burning up with fever?

That acts as the child psychologist when we think we are going to kill them?

That lets you make pretend appointments with pretend symptoms so you can cry in their office when you don’t know what to do with your strong willed 3-year old?

And in my case, and on a very personal note, the one who never leaves your side when your child is gravely ill?

Yeah. That one. That one, for my family is Dr. Chico.

He’s been part of our family for over 22 years and we count it as one of our richest blessings.

I am sure, however, that he’s seen it all with his patients, right?

For instance, doesn’t everyone at one time or another, have to hold a child down with one parent laying across the kid’s arms while the other parent lays across their legs to shoot medicine down their throat with a syringe because they won’t take it like a normal person?

Asking for a friend.

Anyway, I am sure we all have “doctor” stories and most of the time our kids dread their doctor visits.

So, I wrote a book about going to the doctor with the star of course being Dr. Chico.

And if you have to see your doctor after you slather your biscuits with today’s honey butter, I hope they are as amazing as ours.

Wait.

We are here to have honey buttered biscuits so here we go and not even the possibility of a doctor’s visit will derail us.

Disclaimer: I never said I worked for a weight management health giant…I’m just a blogger trying to help create unforgettable recipes for your family.

Let’s start with two sticks of the obvious…butter, warmed to room temperature.

Start with 2 Sticks of Butter

Next add ¼ cup of honey.

Honey is Next

After that add 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar.

Add Powdered Sugar to the Mixture

And now for the flavor trifecta…1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon (or more to taste), ½ teaspoon of vanilla and 1/8 teaspoon of salt.

Season it Up!

As usual, grab your whisk and get after it.

Almost There!

I serve mine in a wonderful pewter bowl, garnished with a little honey and cinnamon.

Serve at Room Temperature

It works great if you let it get to room temperature…it spreads really easy on your biscuit (or toast…I don’t want to discriminate against toast).

I Just Can’t Talk About It

And there’s not much better than a warm biscuit with a little butter love.

Except a warm biscuit with some sausage gravy on it…so I will have to invite the sausage gravy KING to my blog soon, my husband.

Who Ya Gonna Call? Biscuit Busters!

The family that blogs together stays together, right?
